Our animal hospital was founded by local veterinarian, Dr Kerry Jackson, in February 2014. Kerry has been a qualified veterinarian since 1988 and has spent most of her career working in a range of animal hospitals in Australia and overseas. Kerry gained her initial post-graduation veterinary experience at Batemans Bay, Moruya, and Braidwood and returned to Moruya to live and work in 2002. Since that time, she has built a reputation for competence and integrity amongst clients and recognition of genuine compassion for her patients.
In late 2013, Kerry decided that it was time to pursue her dream of opening her own practice with the primary aim of meeting the needs of her many existing clients, whilst offering a service to further her special interest in small animal medicine and surgery. Moruya Animal Hospital opened in February 2014 and is the culmination of that dream. Although we are a relatively small veterinary practice (and deliberately so), our animal hospital is fully equipped and designed with your pet’s wellbeing in mind. We now have the most complete and state of the art equipment available: and most importantly, the staff with the expertise and experience to maximise its value!
At most veterinary practices, it is often difficult to see the vet of your choice at every visit. This can add complications to the management of many cases and inhibit the establishment and building of a trusting and productive relationship between the client, the patient and the vet.
Building this type of relationship requires time but is an essential ingredient when it comes to diagnosing obscure or unusual conditions and is of great benefit when managing the treatment and recovery of patients in a coherent and affordable manner. It is also difficult to find the ideal balance between experience and enthusiasm that leads to accurate diagnoses and cost-effective treatment.
To be able to see “your” vet in a welcoming, friendly and comfortable environment was a central aim when Kerry decided to build the hospital. We are proud of the relationships we are building throughout the community. These relationships are founded on trust, dedication, mutual respect and expertise.
Dr. Kerry
Veterinarian BVSc (Syd) Grad. Dip. App Sc. (Aqua), University of Tasmania / Practice Owner
Kerry graduated from Sydney University in 1988 and started work in mixed practice in the Eurobodalla. At that time there were only two practices in the Shire, and the work included several days a week at the branch practice in Braidwood. A move to mixed practice in the Middle East followed in 1990, superbly timed to coincide with the first Gulf War. In 1995 Kerry returned to University to study aquaculture and spent the following decade working for the NSW Oyster industry. During this time Kerry continued small animal veterinary work, and returned to practice in the Eurobodalla in 2005. Kerry and her husband opened Moruya Animal Hospital in 2014. After 35 years Kerry still enjoys veterinary practice, and has a keen interest and has undertaken additional study in soft tissue and reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and skin disease. Although a lover of all animals, sight hounds hold a special place and she shares her home with two beautiful greyhounds.
